SEPTEMBER 2012 — Childress Sports Consulting co-founder, Ira Childress, is returning to his radio roots this fall. “The Sports Rap with Chill” was recently announced as the newest segment on 103.7 The Beat’s “Afternoon Jamz” show. Childress’ segment will air every Monday at 4:15PM EST, and will feature a wrap-up of the weekend’s top sports stories. Highlights from the NFL, NCAA, and high school sports scene will be covered. Prior to founding Childress Sports Consulting, Ira Childress began his career in athletics as a sports broadcaster and journalist, completing the multimedia trifecta of hosting a sports television show, hosting a sports talk radio show, and serving as a newspaper sportswriter. Throughout those experiences, he covered events such as the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, and MLB World Series. He transitioned from sports media into a career in athletic administration at alma mater Ferris State University before moving on to the NCAA National Office.
